Question Official add-ons

Hi All

Are there any official add-ons for GW Prophecies?

That depends on how you consider Factions. Factions is a standalone game using the same engine as Prophecies, made by same company, and takes place in the same universe. You can buy Factions however, and add it's key to an existing Prophecies account, giving your Prophecies characters access to the Factions world, skills, etc. The Factions characters can also come over to Tyria. Outside of that though, no, there are no other types of addons except for the music packs you can buy from Directsong.com

Anything added to the game just streams to you when needed. The whole Sorrows Furnace area was an add on, as was Tombs, which was originally a PvP area.

Third party mods? Not very useful and ver dangerous, they might contain key logging programs and viruses that may mess up your pc big time. Dont do it.

Well I liked some of the ones in WoW but GW has a lot more build into the default-UI also you can change the layout to your liking.

Overall I don't really see it as much as a problem since most of the stuff WoW addons were useful for doesn't apply to GW (tradeskills and such).

Thanks ischuros

I wasn't planning on doing such a thing.

Just asking, i've a modified wow UI and really liked it, so i thought i might be able to do something similar. Well no harm done.

Thanks again

You can customize the GW UI form the options window. Don't need an "add-on"

No need to get antsy so quickly. It's a reasonable question coming from an ex-WoW player. WoW had it's UI written in LUA/XML, with all it's API and functions all publicly available and thus, the ability to create UI plugins for just about anything. Of course macro functions to perform multiple actions without input didn't exist for very long (botting issues) and on the whole it was a great system.

GW on the other hand, has no such thing, but it isn't really necessary. The UI is quite flexible, with resizing/moving options for every component (almost like having MoveAnything and a few other WoW addons installed) and because of the more limited variety of functions available, it doesn't really need the mods like WoW did (at least until Blizzard starting playing catchup and implementing it's own functions like CTRA).

So long story short, there's no UI modifications, but you should be fine without them, the GW UI is quite well made and very flexible.

except, if you had read his post he asked about OFFICIAL mods (ones made/sponsored by anet). WoW has things like that, which is why he asked. He got a good answer from a few people explaining that there were none but the options section allows some customization... No harm no foul. If he had been asking about aquiring 3rd party software you'd have a point... but he wasnt.

yeah^ got tied up in the other responding posts too quickly-

To be honest- I wouldnt mind being able to choose a different UI Theme to match Prophs/Fax/NFs styles...

but then again an unobtrusive UI is the best UI....

But- if its OFFICIAL, then I cant say anything bad about it.
